Great Chinese takeaway! Food is always hot and tasty! Staff are always friendly! Especially love the special fried rice with meat on top!

What happened? Most recent reviews describe this as a great place to get a takeaway. Maybe the usual cook was laid up with something but our takeaway last night was a dreary miserable offering. Cantonese people have a word for the sort of food that...you get in British takeaways, lup sup. It's food that's either been though up to satisfy British tastes or real dishes that have been modified for the same reason. I like it. I really love Szechuan Chinese food, it's hot and challenging, full of texture and mad flavours. Cantonese takeaway is plain but comforting because it's what we've grown up with. It can be done really well if the cook and owners actually care, but the New Empire failed in this regard. The best that I can say about this food was that it was hot. That's something guess. If it had been lukewarm it would have been a disgusting, greasy, tasteless brown mess. Horrible.

Went here as much normal Chinese was closed . Mandarin house. However I'm so glad I did as our food was gorgeous. Chips , sauces and egg fried rice all fantastic . Will definitely recommend and be back myself ..

Great customer experience here today. The food was excellent the price was very reasonable and the service was warm and friendly. I called up, and explained I was vegan and asked probing questions about the ingredients... as you do... the lady I spoke with was...extremely conscientious and I was suitably put at ease. I will definitely be coming back.

Been going here for years, reliably yummy, we always end up ordering the same thing because it’s so good. The sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style is very very good.
