Cafe Topes - Carlsbad

We were looking up great breakfast places in Carlsbad and this little corner restaurant came up. Topes has a walk up order counter but don’t let that discourage you from trying it! Food is really good and fresh and the coffee drinks are beautiful and tasty. It gets pretty busy on weekends and there is limited indoor seating as well as outdoor. They do being the food to the table and they have beer for those wanting a little cheer with their breakfast!

Good food, but pricey. For the area, it’s probably the norm. I’ll splurge every now and then to try a new place. Delicious decaf latte. I upgraded the pancakes. This meal was $23 plus $5 tip.

We came here during brunch time. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with fries. Unfortunately, the chicken was bland and it did need more salt. The brioche bread got soggy from the coleslaw which also tasted bland. The fries were seasoned well but were burnt. The waitress did bring us a brand new order of fries which tasted good. However their breakfast is good and they have a delicious chocolate chip cookie with macadamia nuts and coconut. I highly recommend.

Such a cute place! Went twice in one week, line moves quickly and isn’t too long. Plenty of seating, picnic benches for larger parties, cute idea. Good sized menu with lots of options. Amazing flavor, good portions, fair prices. Friendly staff, clean restaurant. Good drink options too! Locally sourced bread and meats which I think is so awesome! Would highly recommend this place and return. Parking can be a little tricky, but wasn’t hard to find, there are lots about a block away if you don’t want to find street parking. Lots of families with kids at this location
