I 've been to Social Cantina a few times with friends, and I like it! Midtown Carmel needed another food/drink spot with a great patio since Sun King and Fork Ale get so busy. This is owned by the same management company that runs The Tap. This is the second Social Cantina location with the first one in Bloomington. The space is beautiful and very Instagrammable with a cactus wall, neon flamingos in the private space, and skull art wallpaper. Love the vibrant colors and mix of furniture. The patio seats 100 people, and I imagine it will be busy all summer long as the restaurant is open late I think 1 a.m.? The food is good, but not wow. I would go here for a fun, casual spot but never to specifically seek out the food, if that makes sense. I enjoyed the enchiladas and bowls, and you definitely need to get queso, salsa and/or guac with chips to start! I 'm excited to see Midtown Carmel continue to grow, thanks to locally owned businesses like Social Cantina.
We enjoyed our dinner at Social Cantina and will definitely be back. The tacos were excellent as was the guacamole. My wife was a bit disappointed in her burrito bowl. I'm not big on tequila, but this place is, so I had a coconut margherita and enjoyed it. They also have a good beer list for a Mexican restaurant
I recently came here with a group of coworkers for lunch and we were not disappointed! Usually finding something I can eat at a Mexican restaurant is super easy--I'm a vegetarian with gluten sensitivity. When I first glanced at the menu, I thought it be a little more difficult to find something here--all of the bowls list a meat option and at first, I didn't notice you can sub impossible meat! I ended up ordering the Fiesta Shrimp bowl with no shrimp, but there are also a few vegetarian tacos on the menu. The chips and salsa flight is huge!! There were 7 of us and we didn't quite finish it! I loved the guacamole and roasted red salsa. Overall, the food was great and our server was super friendly and welcoming! This place is in a part of Carmel that's always got tons of new things popping up, right off the Monon Trail. There is a lot of development and it's right in Midtown so it's easy to walk to and from several places in Carmel. It can get pretty busy in this area and I can see how it might be annoying at night because The Goat, which is notorious for loud partying, is right across the street. We sat outside and there was definitely an unpleasant sewer or sulfur smell--it wasn't bad enough to put me off my food but I'm sure on a hotter day, it would have.
Visited this past weekend and the decor of the place is awesome. They have a cool menu with margarita flights and salsa flights. I did a pitcher of the social marg and the shrimp tacos. Both were average not bad but also not the best I've had in indy. The shrimp taco had a lot of arugula on it that dominated the flavor and didn't seem to go with it. The guacamole definitely had a kick.
