Grumpy's Smokehouse - Carterville

Food was marginal at best, but that would have been fine if the service was not so god awful. We were there for about an hour and a half and we saw our server twice. We had to flag down another girl to get refills, then when we wanted our check we had togo back into the kitchen to find our server and ask for a split check...which took her nearly 20 minutes to do. This all couldbe understandable if it were a busy night...it was not. There were 4 tables in the entire restaurant on a Saturday night. Ithink there is a reason they are so slow on what should be their busiest night of the week. Nothing will ever make me go backthere.

Great food, wonderful staff, reasonable prices, very clean and nice venue. Basically, hit on point every aspect desired for a nice dinner. We came for the catfish. It came with sides, we got coleslaw, fried potatoes, fried okra, and sweet potato fries.We also got pecan pie for dessert.

I love it! Eat here for the first time. There was a lot on my plate. Had catfish, roasted okra and cornuggets. I never eat tartaric acid sauce, but I loved her so much I asked for more! The food came pretty fast so I checked to make sure it wasn't raw. It was pure perfection! The staff was nice and friendly. My compliments to the cook. My date had a complete plate of ribs and frits. He enjoyed his ribs. He said they were cooked exactly right and he loved the taste.

I ordered fried wings, but they didn't inform us that they were substituting them with smoked wings until our food arrived. The sauce was decent, but the wings were quite dry on the inside. I also got a rib platter, but they forgot to include the fries that are supposed to come with every platter. The ribs were just average; the meat was acceptable, and the rub had a good flavor. I hope your experience is better if you dine there, but I definitely won't be ordering takeout again.
