Tonight we went to the 1844 Bistro Pub Eatery in Casselman I have to say it was a horrible experience. Firstly we sat for a good 30 Minutes before our food order was taken, which set the tone for our evening and sad to say it continued. We were supposed to have Overnight Beer Brined fried Chicken with Spaetzle Mac n Cheese. What we really had was dried up Deep Fried Chicken breast pieces with Deep fried Spaetzle with a piece of cold congealed cheese on top of the Spaetzle. Mac and cheese should be creamy and cheesy, the spatzle is suppose to be light and airy, what was served was neither. It was Burnt , hard and dry grossness, as hungry as we were we could not eat it. An individual came and spoke with us, we believed this person was the owner. We told him the food was dried up and horrible and he said he would look after it for us and apologizes for the food. What we got instead of a refund of the main meal was $10 off a $110 bill. This was unacceptable so unacceptable!!!! The mains cost us a combined value of $48 plus tax. The server was talking as if she did us a favour by giving us 10% off our entire bill. The food was not her issue and we did tip because that’s what you do, but honestly the service and food did not warrant either. When an owner or someone you assume of importance tells you that they are sorry and they are taking care of it!!! You don’t expect that you are going to get 10% taken off a meal you did not eat. This is not a place to go for food or service! I would like to add to my original post the Owner contacted us and sincerely apoligized for our experience. I appriecated this very much and we will definitely give the 1844 Pub another chance. As we all are surely aware everyone and every establishment can have an off night.
