David Jones Restaurant - Castle Hill

Classic department store restaurant. Bright outlook with floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking street aspect. Good service with limited menu. Water provided at the table at no extra charge if you ask for it. High tea option available daily. Will rearrange tables to cater for larger group if prebooked. The restaurant is privately managed by long term contactor but accepts DJs store card (in addition to all credit cards plus cash) for payment.

Consistent service and food, always a great option for a catch up with friends, or when looking for a quiet corner to relax during a shopping spree on one's own. This classic eatery can boast of very friendly table staff serving sublime cakes and desserts for a decadent treat, a variety of lunch options and high teas. Not necessarily a "cheap eat" establishment but worth the extra for table service, with loads of light coming in through the full glass wall and a view on the outside world. Always makes me remember those little outings with grandma, learning a little bit of etiquette, at the Parramatta David Jones Coffee Shop way back in the 1960s and 1970s.

Staff were extremely rude. The waitress made a rule of her own that she would not serve customers whilst they were looking on their phones. After getting a staff members attention 30 minutes later we were given a lecture about sharing photos on our phones. If you are not on your phone you will receive service.

The friendly staff are always so welcomingThe seating pleasant and a quieter environment in a busy centre. The menu offers a variety to suit all tastes, both small and larger meals. The lunches are suitably sized and tasty morning and afternoon teas, with scones or a variety of cakes, always delicious

If you are looking for a break from shopping and need some refreshment, then this is not a bad place to drop in to. It produces average fare however it is not the worst food you could come across. As is the case with cafes inside department stores, you end up paying over the odds for what you get however it is nice to find a quite corner and just flop down and get your energy levels back up.Service can be a bit patchy so patience is recommended however you are only there to refresh so enjoy the break.
