Bistrot 1798 - Castlebar

A small intimate restaurant in the centre of the castle bar. Had a last minute reservation. Welcomed when we arrived. The restaurant itself is very small, but beautifully decorated. There was no physical menu. The food options where written on a board on the wall. The meat we had was cooked to our wishes and tasted delicious. Pages served with meals complimented them very well. Very cheap. Would highly recommend visiting this place.

Best seafood chowder ever, exquisite monkfish very good wine, strongly recommended

Went here last weekend and had a fabulous meal with my wife. Really nice menu. Lots of Fish and other dishes. my wife had the Hake and prawns which was a generous portion and I had the Belly pork with Scallops. Seen the beef also and looked great. Really Delicious food, service was good and Wine was reasonably priced, we had the cheese board for Afters. Overall a top class meal and we really need to support these guys . Definitely will go again.

A week in Castlebar for the 4 Days Walks also meant visiting the many restaurants and pubs in town. The Bistrot 1798 was without a doubt the best dining experience we had in Castlebar, by far. Excellent food and excellent service. Highly recommend this little restaurant to others.

Bistro style smaller restaurant.Best food by a distance in Castlebar. Fresh seafood and more with fabulous french wines at reasonable prices. Loved it. We will be back. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner
