Golden Eagle - Castlerea

This was one of the best meals we had in all of Ireland. We started with the chicken bites. So yummy with the little salad and delicious dipping sauce. Next I had the lasagna. Wow! Meaty, cheesy and it came with mashed potato, Ireland, salad and coleslaw. Don’t forget the big dish of chips, fries in the US. I had sticky toffee pudding and it came with ice cream!! I left with yummy leftovers. Also the service and atmosphere was wonderful. Make a trip to Roscommon and give yourself a treat!! I must admit that the Hester’s are family but they treat every customer like family.

Great food, nice atmosphere, service was friendly and they were on the ball. Party of 7 and everyone enjoyed their meal.

Went to hester for dinner . Ordered a beef dinner and other stuff for my family, when i got the beef there was a smell and taste of fish from the beef which i dont eat is fish. The smell alone makes me sick.i asked the waitress to smell or taste it in the kitchen . She even refused to and she said that she belived me. I ordered a jug of water and blackcurrant for us all. later to find out it was tap water. When the water in most of Roscommon is contaminated i dont drink it. Also another time i was there, we asked for some bbq sauce and we got handed bbq sauce that was 1 year out of date. We went to the counter to pay after the lady taking away my dinner to get told i had to pay the full amount because the manager wasnt there . So i said i will contact the manager myself .i got my dinner deducted which should have been done the first time no questions ask . But was told never to return again over the phone buy the owner ollie hester.that basically me and my family were jot welcome .to be honest i never taught it would come to this but it has ollie start paying attention to what your chief is giving out to people and stop targeting your costume. One lesson for you to learn, the customers is always right. be aware of this place as i have to go to hospital now to get checked out as i have a massive pain in my stomach and dont feel right at all

I went to this restaurant with a large group for a 4-course dinner. One person in our group requested vegetables without cheese dressing, but it took nearly 15 minutes for them to arrive, and she had to remind the staff of her request. When most of the group had finished their main courses, three of us were still eating the chips from a side dish. A male waiter noticed that I was finishing my chips after I told him I would, but he still took away my cutlery, which was odd. I had to ask him to bring me a fork so I could finish my chips. The same thing happened with the other two people I was dining with. In my opinion, this is just basic manners, and I felt that this behavior was exceptionally rude considering the amount of money we were paying to eat at this restaurant. Overall, the food was okay.

I have never experienced such terrible customer service at a restaurant before. The elderly woman who welcomed us completely ignored us while we waited to be seated. When she finally noticed us, she didn't even make eye contact and had her back turned towards us. Her behavior was so off-putting that we chose to leave. I would recommend others to steer clear of this establishment.
