J J Bbq Burgers - Cedar Park

I tried breakfast here for the first time and wasn't very impressed with the food. There was no cilantro or avocado, and the eggs in the breakfast taco were either overcooked or had been sitting out for too long. Since this is primarily a barbecue place, maybe my expectations for Mexican food were too high. On the bright side, the service was excellent and there was plenty of seating available. I won't be coming back for breakfast, but I will definitely return for lunch or dinner.

I finally visited this place after living in Cedar Park, and I wish I hadn't. The restaurant was dirty, with fingerprints all over the front doors and a full ashtray right at the entrance. It felt like something out of a Kitchen Nightmares episode. I ordered several dishes to try, but the packaging smelled like cigarette smoke—though maybe it was just me. The chicken tasted more like turkey and was incredibly dry; I can't emphasize enough just how dry it was. The brisket was dry, the potatoes and fried okra had no seasoning at all—no salt, no pepper, nothing. The French fries were soggy and tasted like they were cooked in old oil. It was truly a disaster, reminiscent of too much flour mixed with a cheap brand of Velveeta. The pasta was overcooked and mushy. The only redeeming item was the sausage, which was actually pretty good and the one thing I managed to eat. I hate to write a negative review, but I truly regret spending my money on this meal. If you're in the area, go directly to Stiles Switch down the street instead.

Visited on September 19, 2022, around 4 PM. The service was friendly. The chicken fried steak was just okay; the meat was a bit tough, although the crust was nice. The meat slid right off the crust. The potatoes, green beans, and pinto beans were all average. The mac and cheese was good. The brisket was very tender and moist, though it lacked a strong barbecue flavor or smokiness. Overall, it was a decent meal, but nothing to write home about.

Had a burger, it was what I was looking for a good burger. Large size and owner in the cash register. Wash money at Fast Food Joint coming by and support this little business

It was good but not exceptional. Brisket was about average, the beef rib was a spare rib so no alot of meat. Their beans better than most I have had.
