The food is good and the beer is cold. The drinks are generous pours! Try the burgers wings and pizza. All good. The Cajun pasta is another decent choice, but be hungry Better than the only other choice in town.
I had high hopes for this place. I was in the area for a business day) trip and a couple of my co-workers came here for a lunch a few months ago. In fact, one said that the Happy Hour had catered his wedding. So we came in during lunch in good spirits, but the food just didn't deliver. I ordered the grilled tenderloin with fries it was the daily special). The tenderloin had almost no flavor and was pounded out unevenly so it fell apart as I was trying to eat it. The sandwich was served on toasted white bread which is something I have never seen in my many years of Hoosier tenderloin eating. The fries were your standard, straight-out-of-the-bag-from-the-freezer variety, and they weren't seasoned at all. Copious amounts of salt and pepper were required to make them palatable. As for the decor, I wasn't really expecting much as there are basically 2 restaurants in Celestine and they're both sports bars. So the Happy Hour looks like a sports bar. The tables and chairs aren't particularly comfortable they use standard banquet chairs) and there are some TVs around. And that's it. It was cheap $9) and the sweet tea was pretty good. If I was ever in Celestine again, I'd try the other sports bar before coming back to the Happy Hour. However, if the other place wasn't any better, I would probably drive to the next town to eat rather than come back here.
We love to frequent local businesses eat often at this place when we are at Patoka Lake. Friendly efficient staff, tasty reasonably priced food, cute decor makes it a great place to grab dinner. Good pizza, burgers salads.
While the place can get rather noisy, due to there not being a wall between the tavern area and the dining room, don't be put off by that. Absolutely the best breaded pork tenderloin sandwich...anywhere! Ten ounces of thick pork loin inside a crunchy breading. We always share one and never leave hungry. Sandwich and fries for six bucks. What a deal.
