If you order appetizer and main they are likely to come together. If you can overlook the minor miscommunication this place is a real find
I'm here every week (this is no lie). From the skewers and pork buns, to sweet corn pancakes there hasn't been a thing I've ordered that I've been unimpressed with. Great atmosphere and staff. An all around pleasure to eat here. Some favorites: Skewers Bang Bang Chicken Japanese Coasted Chicken Pork Buns Fried Pork in Orange Sauce String Beans w/ Pork or Chicken Just to name a few...
The interior of the restaurant is quite simple and no-frills. The waitress seemed to communicate better with my friend who spoke to her directly. There were a few mix-ups with the silverware and napkins. Additionally, they were reluctant to turn on the central air conditioning, so it felt quite chilly inside! As for the food, it was excellent. I highly recommend the eggplant, which was roasted before being sauced—this was a delightful surprise for me! We also tried the pork dish, which was moist and flavorful, and a fried chicken dish with dried paprika, which is more standard fare. If I ever find myself in Eastern Long Island again, I would certainly return, though perhaps not in the winter since it was really cold inside. I heard that all the meat skewers taste predominantly like cumin, so we decided to skip those.
Upon entering, we weren't greeted with much enthusiasm, and the service felt a bit tense, but despite these logistical issues, the quality of the food makes it worth a return visit. The cuisine is excellent, featuring a surprisingly extensive menu that includes many unique offerings not found in other Chinese restaurants. The dim sum is made to order, so be prepared to wait about 15-20 minutes for it. I highly recommend trying all the grilled skewers, except for the meat-infused Enoki mushrooms, which can be quite chewy regardless of how they're cooked. The lamb was wonderfully seasoned, flavorful, and a bit salty and spicy, which is perfectly in line with Chinese cuisine—though it lacks a refreshing mint flavor. There was so much I wanted to try! We noticed other diners with a hot pot that I would have loved to order, but unfortunately, some in my party aren’t able to handle spicy dishes. Perhaps next time! We sampled about 5-6 different dim sum items, 3 varieties of skewers, and a few traditional Chinese dishes, all of which were very satisfying. I also enjoyed the tea they served—very enjoyable! Overall, we definitely plan to return, bringing along more friends who can handle the spicier options!
Genuine authentic and delicious Chinese cuisine. We ordered spits, chicken wings, dry pot and other stuff. Would highly recommend.
