I have been a patron here since its opening and used to be a postdoc at the university. My wife and I recently returned to host a dinner for friends in one of the private rooms. The appetizers we enjoyed included Pan-seared mackerel, a Welsh-style forest mushroom salad, and a warm lamb salad. For mains, we had options like blackberry-infused duck, roasted salmon fillet, and a sweet potato tortilla. The desserts, which included a red berry and gin cheesecake, a lemon tart, and a warm chocolate fondant, were all delicious and beautifully presented. The establishment has a good selection of wines and beers, and the service was welcoming and attentive.
We dined at Brynamlwg two nights in a row and would have returned on Sunday if they were open. The restaurant has two bars with outdoor seating options. The food was delicious, reasonably priced, and paired well with beer. Brynamlwg is worth seeking out, easily accessible from the parking lot at the Aberystwyth University Arts Centre or along the road to the right at the top of Penglais Hill.
My friend and I recently visited this restaurant for a beer and burger. We were welcomed by friendly staff and our meals arrived promptly. The experience was very enjoyable and I will definitely be returning in the future. This place is truly a hidden gem in Aberystwyth.
After a competition for a meal in brynamlwg himself and a friend enjoyed a fantastic meal. we both had the filet steak from the special menu that was excellent. for dessert we had the homemade brownie and sticky toffee pudding that again. we are of the highest quality. the new chef dave has taken the standards on a basket or this place is a hidden gem! I recommend to everyone to give this place an attempt, they offer exceptional food and drinks to fantastic trips.
I used to go often because the food was good and reasonable under the last steward. Went recently . Very poor menu unless you want something in a bun, veg tart! The chips were awful obviously from frozen and scampi tasteless! I was so appalled...I did not venture a sweet although they looked better. Since the Uni took over this club I think the menu etc must be controlled ! I am saddened that what was a staff club independently run quite well with good food, can come to this! Will I go again- no unless things change. This place would go bankrupt soon if it was out in the real world
