Roots Natural Kitchen - Charlottesville

Ordered delivery through THEIR partner DoorDash. Spent over $50 for lunch for 2 not knowing that their prices are higher if you get it delivered. I received the order and did not receive the dressing or any utensils. Nothing worse than a dry meal thanks to not getting what you ordered. Called the restaurant and was told that since I used THEIR partner delivery service I had to deal with them which was funny since they were the ones that didn't put it in the bag...right!? Guess you live and learn.

My son brought me to this place for my birthday, because we’re vegan, and they seemed to have good options. When we arrived, I needed to use the restroom, so my son asked for me, if there was a public restroom (when you walk in, there isn’t any seating or anything visible other than the kitchen, so there’s no way to know). One of the employees snapped at him about not having public restrooms until I told him we were buying food. It was so rude and embarrassing to my son. And so what if we weren’t buying food!?? You’re seriously that passionate about not letting non paying humans the privilege of using your toilet? We’re all people. You’re going to turn away someone that needs to pee?? We’re obviously not there to steal your toilet later. I’ve lived in plenty of cities. I understand the need to monitor, but he was unnecessarily so rude about it! My son asked nicely. I didn’t want to stay, but my son insisted. The other employee was really nice and I forgot about the silly goose that made want to boop him in the nose. I’ll pass on another visit.

Love love love roots! my favorite bowls: -el jefe with switch the bases and the works (my go-to) -the OUTLAW (rip please bring this back) -yamjam/roots bowl add chicken (sweet potatos are chef's kiss) -pesto ceasar (the!!! pickled!!! onions!!!! <3)

Got a few bowls here and really enjoyed them. You can substitute an ingredient, such as spinach for kale, without a problem. It's tasty, healthy food at an affordable price with quick service. That's a good formula, and Roots adds to the quality of life in Cville.

Love the salads, roots rice is great. I love that kids eat free here.
