The Cove - Chester

Considering it's located within a casino, the food was surprisingly good. We started with a platter of sourdough bread and crackers, accompanied by salted butter and garlic-infused olive oil. The bread was warm, fresh, and wonderfully crusty—absolutely delicious. For our appetizer, we chose the raw bar sampler, which included oysters, cocktail shrimp, clams, and crab claws, served with a tasty cocktail sauce and a red wine vinegar sauce. This dish was very good, although I found the crab a tad overcooked. For our main courses, both the filet and the crab-stuffed flounder were cooked to perfection, pairing beautifully with sides of wild mushrooms, asparagus, and a baked potato topped with sour cream. We ordered glasses of their house white wine (pinot grigio) to complement the meal, which paired nicely with the food; however, I might opt for a different wine next time, as this one was somewhat lacking in flavor. Overall, the food was delightful, and I would definitely come back for another meal. Lastly, I highly recommend the chocolate cake. It's absolutely delicious, featuring layers of moist chocolate cake and rich chocolate mousse. While the accompanying raspberry sauce is tasty, I’d suggest asking them to leave it off when ordering the cake, as its flavor tends to clash with the chocolate. Aside from that, it was a fantastic dining experience.

We hadn't visited The Cove in a while, and we were thrilled with the food we ordered. I had the pork chop, which was cooked to perfection and absolutely fantastic. Our pinot grigio was crisp, cold, and just the right balance—not too fruity. My partner ordered the scallops, which were also perfectly prepared, and she enjoyed them immensely. We shared two sides: asparagus and cauliflower with broccoli in cheese sauce, both of which were delicious and generous portions—we ended up taking most of it home. Our server, Alissa, was exceptional, just as she has been for the past 11 years at The Cove. She's a big reason why we keep returning.

I was really disappointed with my first experience at this restaurant. I ordered the shellfish trio, which included lobster, shrimp, and scallops, while my girlfriend had the prime New York strip steak. We also got asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes, but everything was served cold. My girlfriend didn't want to send her steak back because she was concerned it would be overcooked; it was medium well. I did send mine back, but it still wasn't hot when it came back. Overall, we were very let down, and to make matters worse, the manager didn't even come over to apologize. Very poor service!

I really liked this place. A bit pricey for this area but it's a casino so... The piano player is a nice touch and the servers are always attentive. We sat in the lounge area near the player and drank for hours after enjoying a DELICIOUS meal. Will be back soon.

I was at this restaurant with my family to celebrate a 21st birthday. The service was below the level I would expect at a diner, let alone this restaurant. It took about half an hour to place our orders, and another half an hour to receive the starters. I ordered a surf and turf special, and it was mediocre. The lobster was cooked too long, and the steak was covered in some type of smoky rub. When you order an expensive steak, the quality of the meat should speak for itself, it shouldn't need seasoning. Multiple people at my table received drinks that they didn't order. I tried three different wines and they were all substandard. If this restaurant has a sommeiller, they should fire him/her the wine selection was terrible compared to comparable restaurants/bars in Philly. I've been to this restaurant several times over the past few years, and it has always been stellar, so I'm not sure what happened. However, this time I was extremely disappointed. EDIT: the cappuccino I had for dessert was quite good. That was the best part of this meal.
