Happy Green - Chiang Mai

Super cheap, good food and very friendly owners. We felt welcome here and enjoyed our time. You will like this place even if you are not vegetarian or the other, obnoxic type. Prepare for a 3 days intestinal cleaning the food is quite hot and has loads of fiber. If you are not used to it, spend some time on the bowl:

You have to come to Happy Green when you're in Chiang Mai. These people put so much love and care into the food they prepare. At 140 Baht for everything you can eat, it is an absolute steal. They grow most of what they prepare and they keep it organic. Try love!

Chiang Mai has certainly proved to be a vegan paradise. I've eaten here in many places, but Happy Green is safe. There is a nice buffet furnished that is great if you are just a person, but still want to try a lot of different things. You can also order things a la carte. Usually vegan but u can order some vegetarian options with egg. The salad cooler was full of fresh leaf greens and herbs, yams, potatoes and tomatoes for its own salad. I recommend on a generous part of the herbs on your food it really increases the taste. They had like basil, Vietnamese cilantro, and I think it was also lemon basil, as it tasted very citrusy. There is also a refrigerator with a selection of kombucha flavors. The dining area is shaded and you are literally sitting next to their large garden in the back next to the river Peng.

Happy Green is definitely my favorite spot to grab lunch in Chiang Mai. The food is fantastic, the lunch buffet is the best and has amazing value for just 140 baht, and the owner is a total sweetheart. Totally vegan food with great flavor. I'd recommend this spot to anyone, regardless of whether or not they are vegan (not a vegan myself . Oh, and the location is beautiful too! :

I was talking with them last night and they said jokingly I must only think their food is delicious if I'm very hungry but otherwise not delicious. My thai is limited but that was the gist of it. They obviously notice that nearly every time I'm in there I'm eating enough for a family. But, it's because I live in Mae On 40km out of town and nearly every time I'm heading by their location I'm returning from some big training event at Doi Suthep-Pui National park (it's one of the main reasons I come into town). However this brings up two great points. (1) The food IS delicious and if I lived closer I'd come in often for just a normal sized meal. (2) They are such warm and loving woman working there. Not only do they never guilt about my insatiable appetite, but they encourage it! Many times they've gone out of their way to quickly custom make some small dish to add to the already amazing buffet because they want me to try some new Som Tam or Thai dessert. Great place, great atmosphere, great staff.
