El Tezcal Mexican - Chicago

I was really hopeful that El Tezcal would deliver on some amazing Mexican food based on the reviews. Had to get carry-out since we had our dog with us. Service was friendly and fast. I was torn between a 3 star and 4 star. The good aspects was the friendly service and the bistec a la mexicana had a nice flavour. But beyond that the misses for us were: the tacos were bland and lacked flavour. Also, it really ruins a meal when you get home and they mess up the order. Instead of Al Pastor taco they made them chicken tacos. I also asked for no beans and just rice. Since I ordered at the counter and they repeated my order, it wasn’t communication issues. It would have been ok if the taco was good but the chicken was dry.

Done only take out here, sopes, tacos, Enchiladas, burritos etc. Always delicious.The food is fresh and tasty. Quacamole made fresh each time.

Everything we ordered was delicious bistec a la mexicana was the perfect amount of spicy, steak flautas were perfect, steak tacos, chips and Guac were all yummy.

This restaurant is a hidden gem located on a quiet stretch of Kedzie. We absolutely loved the salsa verde that accompanied the chips as soon as we arrived. For our main dishes, we ordered the chicken enchiladas with mole and the bistec a la Mexicana. The mole was truly the best I've ever had, and the enchiladas were stuffed with perfectly seasoned chicken. The bistec was also delicious, with high-quality steak and a tasty sauce. The portions were substantial, offering great value for the money. Our server was incredibly helpful and friendly, providing excellent recommendations!

Authentic Mexican cuisine! The guacamole is offered in a generous portion of 2 cups. Two tacos are just the right amount. The pollo is tender and flavorful, while the pastor is rich with deep, intense flavors. Food: 5/5
