Fry The Coop - Chicago

The sandwich is fine. The spicy one doesn?t come with much on it. Just the sauce. The fries are fine. Order took a while to come out. Fries were cold. Asked for fresh fries. Took forever to come out.

Sooooo, I stumbled across Fry The Coop from word of mouth through Instagram. I was very impressed honestly. The entrance was photogenically appealing. When you enter the restaurant you?ll have to gaze over the plethora of items on the menu. Being anout of towner, I?m very bummed I can not taste more of their food over time. However, this just means I need to venture back toChicago! My donut chicken sandwich was good! The sweetness from the donut swirled with the HOTNESS from the chicken accompaniedwith that pickle drizzle a tad bit of honey mustard ? lip smacking experience. Guaranteed!! The bar was fully stocked. Thestaff was helpful with the many questions I had. The music had an R&B vibe. NO RESERVATION required. I would highly recommendfor first date.

We visited on Saturday for lunch, and the place was empty. I ordered the chicken tenders along with a side of fries and mac and cheese, but instead received coleslaw instead of the fries. I didn't want to bother anyone about it, so I just went ahead and ate. The tenders were really crunchy and well-seasoned, though I think I could have just ordered a kid's meal as two tenders would have been enough for me. My husband had the butter-fried chicken burger. The chicken was a little dry, but the sauce was delicious! The tap beers were reasonably priced, but some of the ones he wanted to try were sold out. I'm looking forward to visiting again soon to try the chicken and waffles.

I was taken aback by how overcooked the chicken tenders were; there was nothing tender about them at all. The coleslaw was disappointingly dry, much like the nickel-sized pickle slices served alongside. On a positive note, the mac and cheese was quite good. However, neither dish came with utensils. When I called the restaurant to inquire, I received a weak explanation about a city ordinance concerning utensils, but they still provided items that clearly needed them. There was no mention of this policy or any proper signage to explain it. Just four blocks away, McDonald's managed to give me a spoon with my sundae!

The food here is amazing! The staff is really friendly, and I come often without any issues. However, today I waited 20 minutes, received our menus, and was then told they weren't taking orders anymore, which was really disappointing. To make matters worse, a group that came in after us had their order taken. Despite this experience, I still love this place!
