Scarborough Fare Cafe - Christchurch

The best thing about this café is its location. It offers a fantastic view overlooking the beach, making it the perfect place to relax for a few hours. The staff and food were satisfactory, nothing extraordinary but nothing negative to mention either. However, the main downside for me was the décor and furniture. Despite its amazing location, the plastic furniture felt cheap and uncomfortable. The plastic tablecloth also gave off a dated vibe, reminiscent of a greasy spoon café from the 1980s in East London, which was unexpected for a beachside café in Christchurch.

A group of friends have been frequenting this restaurant on Friday evenings for drinks and small bites. The restaurant has a beautiful ambiance and offers a breathtaking view. I regret not knowing it opened earlier in the summer. I am looking forward to returning tonight and hope to see more diverse platter options on the menu. It is a fantastic spot to meet up with friends, especially if you can walk home afterwards.

It's a great spot as it looks out on to the ocean and the waves and the surfers and it is great for efficient service and pleasant staff, always smiling and never bothered about unusual dietary requests. Very accommodating staff and genuinely friendly.

Service was great but coffee was just fine. It's a great loction but I wouldn't come back here for coffee if I had other options.

The cafe is next to the beach, there is a playground and some toilets next to the cafe. I ordered flat white (regular one), taste is ok, staffs are friendly. It’s a good spot to drink coffee while enjoying the beach.
