Don't try to serve a tour group a "dinner" without a kitchen. No choice of entree, dessert from a local bakery because of a birthday in our group. Bear season is only six weeks, wait to do construction.
Our tour group took over the place while in town during polar bear season. Beds and bath were fine. There was a fridge, coffee maker and hairdryer in our room. WiFi reception in our room was more miss than hit but if you sat in the lobby....We ate their buffet style breakfasts and had plenty to choose from.
Owned by the same people as the Bear Country Inn--see review--this is a great improvement over that one. Rooms are fine, restaurant seems to be for continental breakfast only at the moment. The Tundra Inn is only a block away, and Gypsy's Bakery is down the street, so you're covered for food.
It is plain, but adequate as a base to see the bears. The internet and hot water worked, so what more do you want? If so, you won't get it. Lighting in the room was too dim to read, breakfast had fresh baked goods that were great one day and inedible the next. But it was reasonably quiet at night, so you could be rested to see the bears the next day (remember, that's why you came).
