My friend ordered the Hakata Ramen and I just ordered something safe which was the Shoyu Ramen. My god the cha shu was dried and such small slices compared to other Ramen spots. The broth was slightly salty and way too much noodles. I am not a fan and will stick to my favorite spot by me on Bell Blvd.
I came across this place by accident as I was just about to get on the train in midtown. I'm always looking for good ramen restaurants, which seems to get harder and harder to do in a city that keeps opening new ones. I'm definitely willing to give Menkui-Tei a second go. It may be that it didn't wow me because I got the ramen on take out, or that I went with one of their unique ramen called Gekikara Ramen, which was supposed to be a spicy miso. But it neither was spicy nor had the flavor of miso. It wasn't terrible by any means. It just didn't do it for me. I also ordered something called Aspara Shimeji, which is stir fried asparagus with shimeji mushrooms and butter. It was absolutely delicious. It was amazing. That I could have eaten two of for sure. The staff was great. And, it's very reasonably priced. So, I'll definitely be back to try it again.
This has become my go to ramen spot. The food is great, there's never a wait and they accept cards!! (Unlike other ramen joints I've been to. I had the Hakata Ramen and my boyfriend had the Miso Ramen. Both delicious. I also added a side of curry rice which is to me the best curry ever.
I have been visiting this gem for a little over 10 years now. It's my favorite ramen restaurant in the big Apple! It's simple, the staff is always friendly, and the large howls of ramen are heavenly. Have a seat, a fresh Sapporo draft that's on tap, and have the fried chicken appetizer while you wait. On a cold day, a cup of green tea....ahhhhh... I really enjoy the veggie ramen and I order extra noodles. Another wonderful dish would be the curry ramen if you prefer an extra kick. I personally love the neverendless slices of sweet cabbage! They have amazing curry and rice that can be added as a side to any ramen dish. please note that the boiled eggs here are precooked and always runny. I would prefer the classic boiled egg in mine it's a sacrifice here but everything else is top notch!
Great, flavorful Ramen. Huge portions!!! Yay! I've enjoyed the Miso Ramen with chicken, and poached egg. Egg is $2. The miso broth is so delicious and flavorful, the chicken is a roast chicken, also flavorful. I love this place, and I may be addicted to that ramen. Every time I visit, I order the same thing!! Well, first time, I had not had poached egg, but every other time I did. So, that's my variation. And at some point , I'll add the Japanese pepper which is on the table. Service is friendly and nice. The ramen noodles are very good. I really, really like this ramen! I am craving the Miso ramen with chicken as I write this. See my photos. Everything in the Miso Ramen soup is delicious. Price is reasonable for what you get and the area. OVERALL: I highly recommend . Oh, they do NOT deliver . But, you can call in your order pick up. I have only eaten my Miso Ramen in the Restaurant because you want it as soon as it is served for the ultimate taste experience. I'd recommend you step away from your work take your lunch break inside the restaurant . SO DELICIOUS. Enjoy! This LOCATION is on West 56th Street, between 5th 6th Avenues, closer to 6th Ave. It's near a bike rental place, and on downtown side of West 56th Street. Across the street from Benihana, and Hale Hearty Soups. This place is easy to walk by, so don't miss it. Enjoy! SPECIAL NOTE TO WORKAHOLICS: Hey, step away from the vehicle, you need to! And enjoy a beautiful huge bowl of ramen. You deserve it. Yes, you do!!! Enjoy.
