Nice and friendly staff. Not much English but they are very helpful and patient. Have the Cecina, it is delicious. Breakfast is generous and wonderful. For dinner I tried 1h before closing time on the weekend and they closed the kitchen already, so make sure you call or come before the closing time. Try Yolixpa liquor.
This place has many things going for it- colonial architecture, chalkboard out front listing offerings, slick menu, friendly servers, etc. The evening we were there, they even had a trio of a guitar, a bass, and a violin playing! Unfortunately, our meal was very disappointing. The food was under-proportioned, overcooked and overpriced. I could elaborate, but I would rather spend time/effort sharing our great experiences at several other establishments around town (including at Las Ranas, which is a half-block further down the same street, and where we were headed until the live music drew us inside this place). We should have kept walking, and now that you know, you should, too.
I enjoyed breakfast here our first morning in Cuetzalan. The restaurant is beautifully decorated truly a pleasant place to sit and watch the world go by. Tortillas were prepared fresh, by hand, on a griddle in the corner. The range of breakfast choices was appealling and tasty, and served by smiling and helpful staff. Several vendadores ambulantes stopped by, offering handcrafts as well as woven and embroidered clothing, and we were also seranaded by a strolling musician. Definitely our best dining experience in Cuetzalan.
This is a good solid food choice, specialized on local Mexican food and seafood and popular with the locals. Howeber, do not expect any highlights compared to other Mexican cities, food all over Cuetzalan is heavy and mediocre.
