Chicken was dry, there were a couple olives with onion and iceberg lettuce in the wrap and that was it. No sauce or yogurt dressing, no tomatoes. It was dry. It seems to be a good place but I would not recommend the Mediterranean wrap unless they change the ingredients.
This is a great spot. It was our first time here. We split a Healthy Platter that had baba, hummus and pickled veggies. I had Kushery, which was a huge serving. My wife had Fattoush with grilled Salmon.Vegetarian options: They had a few options. I had Kushery which I loved.Wheelchair accessibility: The bathrooms are individual and accessible.
Great food and friendly service. The American food and breakfast is really good, but the Egyptian dishes are totally delicious. Ambiance inside has a cool local restaurant vibe and the food quality exceeds expectations. Highly recommended and we will certainly be back!
I order Mashawi because I saw there’s kofta in this entree. And I know about kofta because I read The Arabic Quilt.Anyway, I first tried the tawook, and it’s really tasty already. Then I took a bit of kofta. BANG! Even better!Don’t forget to eat the bread, too! The side of bread and the bread soaked in the sauce of tawook gives you a flavor strike!Lastly, I finished my dinner with baklava. It’s bottom is dressed in honey and layered with crushed nuts. The top is super crunchy fill dough. Have one and just one for dessert is great!I ordered Molokhya on my second visit. Your pour the leafy stew on the rice. The stew is thick and a bit like geng! Maybe they use some sort of starch. And it’s extremely smooth when you eat it with rice. It just flows into your mouth.
What a welcome! Smiling faces greeted us. Our waiter Hussein A. was welcoming. We were asked to choose our table and I was eager to sit near a wonderful mural I am too familiar with since I also live in Cairo. My daughter and I go a good explanation of the menu and assured the Egyptian menu items where cooked by authentic Egyptians and should be tasting like the real thing. Hussein was eager to share how wonderful the Cleveland Clinic had been for him and his experience as he maneuvered through Med school. We told him we were also from Egypt and he was even more delighted and so was the owner. The Macarona Bachamel was spot on and the babageneau eggplant dip was also amazing. For myself I ordered the Shrimp Pasta and I would definitely recommend it.I was very happy with the service and the food quality and portions. I would definitely give it five stars except that the place had the smell of the disinfectant by the name of Fabuloso. I would have preferred to have the restaurant smell neutral or like food cooking instead of the cheap overpowering smell of that disinfectant. I would like to visit again, but if there are other choices nearby, I would rather not be overwhelmed by that smell of non food inexpensive cleaning products.Maybe that is why the restaurant with good food like this did not have customers at every table? It should, as the food is good and it’s at a great location.
