La Treille Muscate - Cliousclat

Five of us met in Cliousclat and we booked the half board deal for two nights. The location was brilliant and the food was great. The breakfast was also very nice.

I have just returned from one of the most unpleasant evening dining experiences I've had in 50 years of eating in France.I've eaten at this restaurant many times and keep trying to find something good to say about it.But tonight's meal was a disgrace. Overpriced, sultry service, food I would not in any way serve to my friends at home. Pretentious.Nice location, nice view - but I came here with friends to eat!The lamb was inedible, chunks of sinue and fat one couldn't even cut through.When I asked the proprietor, Katie, whether she would eat this rubbish she just shrugged and said it was the finest French gigot - well maybe but if that's as good as it gets then .... well maybe look to New Zealand?I will never return to this over blown restaurant whilst it's in the same ownership.About time the obviously tired restauranteur goes to pastures new and lets a real patron with real zest, take over.

Have eaten several times here and always enjoy it. Highly recommend for lunch - €31 menu is great value for excellent food and an incredible view when you sit outside. Service is good, even allowing me to practise my French and not wince too heavily as I mangle their language!

On a recent day trip to the region south of Crest to visit Cliousclat and Mirmande, we stopped for lunch at this recommended restaurant.The restaurant has interior and exterior seating, and we chose to sit outside. There is a lovely patio, well-shaded by trees and umbrellas, looking southward over meadows and forests towards the Rhone River - a very pleasant setting on a sunny and hot day.We selected the menu with specials of the day for the entree and main dishes and were disappointed with both. The entree, a gambas and langoustine salad, had a couple of morsels of the seafood, lost in a watery sauce amid an uninteresting mix of greens. The main, grilled scallops with a filet of mackerel, was adequately prepared but lacking in any added enhancement.The service was friendly and relatively prompt.The wine selection was average.
