China Star - Columbia

Very tasty and fairly priced lunch. The soup is one of my favorites in Columbia. Pictured: hot and sour soup, and ma la chicken.

Each time I have picked up an order there as an Uber delivery driver, I am always impressed with this restaurant's efficiency. The food is usually ready when I get to the restaurant for pick up and if I have to wait (which is very rare) it is no more than 5-10 mins. On a personal level, same. I have ordered from here several times and the food is done in a timely manner and hot regardless if I order ahead of time or I come in the restaurant to order.

Overall, I have enjoyed this place and have been ordering from them for a few years. Some of my favorites are "Chicken with Black Pepper" and "Curry Chicken with Onion." However, I recently had a frustrating experience. They advertised a coupon for a free 2-liter soda on their website, which didn't mention any restrictions. I called to confirm that I had applied it correctly to my order, but they refused to honor the coupon, stating it was "only for in-store." Since my online order had already been charged and I couldn't cancel it, I decided to drive there to pick up my free soda along with my order. Unfortunately, they only refunded me $3.00 from the $3.50 delivery fee that had been added, and they passively aggressively circled the restriction on the menu they placed in my paper bag with the food. Considering they likely recognize my number as a regular customer, I would have expected them to simply honor the coupon and update it online. I hope this was just a one-time issue, but do keep in mind that the online coupons on their website may be outdated.

The food here is consistently excellent, and the staff is very friendly. It's one of the best Chinese restaurants in Columbia.
