The Tavern - Columbus

This was our first visit, and we had heard great things about the place. We were not disappointed! The food was incredible, and the service was even better.

My wife and I both ordered the filet mignon, which was cooked to perfection and accompanied by a delightful sauce. I started with the potato soup, which was simply delicious. My wife chose the spinach salad with a warm vinaigrette, and it was equally tasty. For dessert, we highly recommend the chocolate brew served over ice. They also have an excellent selection of bourbons.

If a restaurant is going to employ an app that asks specifically about a special occasion, then staff at the restaurant should acknowledge that occasion. I wasn’t expecting any offering of a freebie, especially given the very specific menu/style of the restaurant,but I chose to spend my birthday trying out a relatively new restaurant in Columbus and noted on my reservation that we were celebrating a birthday. WHY ask the question as part of the reservation process if not one single acknowledgment will be uttered by any restaurant employee??? Just WHY? Answering a question in the reservation process set me up for an expectation, so I was a little disappointed. There were only 2 tables of diners the entire evening, ours being one, so “busy” certainly can’t be the excuse.

This was our first visit to the tavern, but it certainly won't be our last. Our server was very attentive, and the food was delicious. The chef even stopped by to check on us, which was a nice touch.

The food was exceptional and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly.
