80 Thoreau - Concord Tpke, Concord

80T never, and I mean- NEVER- ceases to amaze me. I have been frequenting this lovely addition to Concord Center since its arrival. The menu is always unique, robust and of the highest quality. Seasonal items are artfully chosen and expertly prepared. From the host/hostess to the serving staff and clearing (bus-person), there are smiles, kindness and gratitude. Servers are very well informed of the menu, preparation and never forget to ask about allergies. This remains my favorite Concord, special occasion restaurant.

We only had time for a quick dinner this time. Grilled Strip Steak. Sea Bass. Both dishes were beautifully composed with flavorful sauces and garnish. Very high quality meat and fish. The Panna Cotta with Mango Sauce was phenomenal too! Our daughter is vegetarian. Wish 80 Thoreau offered vegetarian dishes. We would go there more often.

This is not our first time at the restaurant, and we usually leave very satisfied. However, this time was different. While the food was nice, the quality of the meat was disappointing. We ordered the Grilled Striploin as one of our main dishes, but the cut we received was 50 percent fat. When we pointed this out to our server, he did nothing to address the issue, nor did he offer to take it back or remove it from the bill.

Hot and rainy night was enjoyed w an awesome dinner at 80 Thoreau. Refreshing cocktails and a nice wine selected by Andrew accompanied Asparagus Vichyssoise, Duck w cherries and a Scallops w Buttermilk, Peas, Potato, Dill appetizer turned into a dinner portion.

This is how every gourmet restaurant should strive for. Each menu item was a perfect blend of textures and flavors presented in a most creative manner. The only downside was it slowed down conversation since we savored every bite. Seated near the cooking area did not add to the ambience, though we could have asked for another table.
