Abenaki Trail - Conway

We are from out of town and stumbled upon this great friendly establishment. Bryan was a fantastic bartender and server. Extremely personable. We came back the next day and met his better half Danielle the owner. The food was great in addition to all the friendly staff that was eager to help each other out. This is our new home away from home watering hole. We highly recommend it-we might move here now. We ordered a couple of plates. The steak and burger were good. The chips were cold, overcooked, and lacked any flavour. Service was friendly but slow. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Atmosphere: 2 Recommended dishes: Hamburger, Steak

As a local, this was the worst experience I've had at any restaurant in the valley. Not only a local but someone who also works in hospitality and in the valley. The bartender, Bryan, was our server. Slow evening maybe 8 people at the bar top and two other tables. I order the NY sirloin and asked for it midrare. When our dinners came out the steak was over cooked and I asked for a new steak to be cooked to the temp I requested. Immediately I got attitude from the bartender telling me I was wrong and the temp was cooked to a mid to midwell temp. He was correct, it was, but I had asked for midrare. 30 mins later he brought my dinner back out and by this time my husband and son are done with their dinner and I'm no longer willing to wait and make my family wait. I then asked for a To-go box because not only was I was just disgusted with the attitude I was given but also how long I had to wait for a remake. When I asked for a box, more attitude from the bartender. Being someone who works in hospitality and has for the past 10 years I was taken back. I know the customer is not always right, but sometimes they are. I told him I no longer wanted the meal and asked for it to be removed from my bill. He refused and told me I was paying for it, even though I wasn't going to eat it. He then took it off the bill and gave the meal to a guest at the bar while also talking about me. I've recommended this restaurant to plenty of other people, off of experiences from family and friends who live in the area and have eaten here. After this first hand experience I will not be recommending this establishment nor will I return.

Last time we visited in 2009 it was named Up Country. We have been driving by daily but reluctant to stop as there never seemed to be many cars in the parking lot. Friends have been saying “You have to stop in and try the wings!” What were we waiting for?! I almost don’t want to write this review because the secret will be out. This place is a hidden Gem! We were seated immediately. Dining room was quiet, warm and clean. Stopped for wings and a beer and stayed for more beer, onion rings and pretzel. Everything was served hot and tasted great! Server and bartender (Go Buffalo! were attentive and friendly. I am looking forward to my next meal at Abenaki. We may have found our new watering hole Parking: Great atmosphere! Friendly Staff
