This place is quite small and has a cozy atmosphere. The Coral Gables location offers metered street parking, as well as a lot across the street that often tends to fill up quickly, but that’s really the only downside. Once you step inside, you’re in for a delightful experience. The food here is fantastic, and the service is top-notch. If you find yourself too full for dessert but still craving something sweet after your meal, I highly recommend trying the Vietnamese coffee. It's brewed directly into a cup filled with condensed milk, resulting in a sweet and delicious treat that serves as the perfect blend of dessert and coffee. I’ve tried multiple dishes at this restaurant, and I haven’t encountered a single disappointment. The soups are hearty enough to be meals on their own, and there are plenty of vegetarian options available. Prices are very reasonable as well. Overall, dining here is a wonderful experience, distinct from the typical Chinese or Japanese restaurants, which is what I appreciate most about it.
I think it's a great spot for a date, especially if you're with someone who loves meat. Personally, I probably wouldn't choose this restaurant otherwise.
For appetizers, they have edamame and fresh spring rolls, but I was disappointed to find that none of the soups are vegetarian. According to the waitress, all the soups contain either beef or chicken stock, which makes me wonder what the other reviewer experienced. There is one salad that could possibly be vegan, though I wasn't sure about the dressing. The vegetarian section of the menu includes about five items, one of which has egg noodles, but the waitress assured me that the rest are all vegan. I opted to skip the dish that sounded suspicious and ordered the Buddha's Bowl instead since I was looking for a lot of veggies. I also requested an additional ingredient, but the waitress informed me that it would cost an extra $10.95, which seemed excessive. When my food arrived, it was unremarkable, but there was something off about the sauce. Then I discovered a strange piece on my plate that I had to set aside. I called the waitress over, and she appeared visibly embarrassed. She returned to apologize and reassured me that the Buddha's Bowl is always vegan, but she didn’t know what had gone wrong. Thankfully, they didn’t charge me for that dish. Having dined at many highly-rated vegan-friendly establishments, such as Hugo’s in L.A., I find it hard to fully judge this place. However, it’s important to note that veganism may not be a top priority for their kitchen staff, and they might not be accustomed to working with vegan sauces or ingredients.
Though the restaurant is situated in a bustling area of Coral Gables, the atmosphere feels warm and inviting. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, and they're more than willing to veganize any dish upon request. There's also a woman, possibly related to the owner, who consistently checks in to ensure everything is going well and offers suggestions specifically for vegan diners. The portion sizes are generous, making it perfect for sharing. Miss Saigon has been around for many years, and it’s clear that they prioritize fresh and delicious ingredients in their cooking. I will always choose this place when I don’t feel like cooking and want to enjoy a peaceful environment coupled with fantastic food.
