Pascal's On Ponce - Coral Gables

I was very disappointed to read the Bastille Day review, and would have been equally distressed if the same had happened to me. Pascal's is a favorite restaurant of mine. I have dined there more than a dozen times in the past several years and never been disappointed with the service or quality of the food. The restaurant is small and on occasion a bit crowded and somewhat noisy my only complaint.

We went to this French restaurant on July 14th, to celebrate a birthday and also because it was a French holiday, Bastille Day. I had received an e-mail from the restaurant offering a fixed price dinner for this occasion that sounded good. Reservations were made and upon arriving, there was a short wait. Upon being seated, out waiter told us that this evening they were celebrating the occasion and asked us if we would like a glass of champagne. We accepted and each of our party of 3 had a flute of ordinary Brut champagne. Everything went pretty well (it was a little warm and we asked twice to have the air conditioning turned down). After the main course, our waiter informed us that the chef had added another small course of a cheese plate before dessert and we agreed to have this. When the check arrived, I was stunned to find that they had charged $16 for each glass of champagne. I queried the manager about this and was rebuffed. The waiter never mentioned a charge for the champagne as he should have. The cheese plate was also an additional $11 which is reasonable, but we should have been told in advance of these add-ons. As I felt the waiter was at fault, I gave a smaller gratuity than I normally would, but this restaurant must cease this deceptive practice before I will return. I was quite irritated.

5 Stars are not enough, to rate the restaurant, food was spectacular, from entree to appetizer. The best lamb, I have ever had.

Excelent food and good service! Perfect place to have a slow pace dinner with good conversation. And the chocolate soufflé was to die for!

Wonderful attentive staff, cozy atmosphere and exceptionally delicious food! We have had several celebrations in this restaurant and always enjoyed it very much. You must try the soufflé it's divine!
