The owner is always there behind the sushi bar, which keeps everything consistent and delicious! We always start with a Tuna Tataki, which is topped with plenty of fresh scallions, grated ginger, and chopped garlic. It 's so perfect every time! We 've also tried Fabulous Tuna, which is Tuna Tataki with a different sauce, and is plated very pretty. It is great, but the Tataki reigns supreme. Even the Crunchy Tuna app is interesting and yummy with Japanese potatoes mixed in for that unknown crunch! I recommend trying all of these Tuna apps! Their ginger house salad is delicious. Great homemade dressing! I was excited to see they offer Harusame Salad, but this was a FAIL. Great texture, no flavor... it really fell flat for me. We 've tried many rolls, and we have many favorites! Tracey: tuna, cuke, cc, avocado inside out with masago. We have added jalapeno, and it 's the perfect kick. They make a great JB Tempura Roll, and we always have to share one! The Mexican Roll is the perfect Shrimp Tempura roll, with spicy mayo and avocado. The Dave Roll is topped with Tuna and Avocado, and inside is Shrimp Tempura and more tuna. It 's a solid choice also! The Conch Dynamite, which is baked conch inside of a roll, is yummy, and very reminiscent of a sushi place very special to me! I 've had it 2x, and really enjoy it! Despite the name being pronounced NEW , this place is as old school as it gets. This is why I truly love this place! Full of traditional Japanese kitchen appetizers, the menu is just full of so many choices! You could honestly read it for a full 30 minutes! The prices are very reasonable, and the quality is high! There is only one waitress, and she is nice and provides awesome service! You can tell she has worked her for many years. This is definitely our go-to local sushi place, and it 's a little dangerous that we live only 5 minutes away!
This place would cost a lot more if it was located in a trendy spot downtown. Lucky for me Yuji the owner likes where he is at and do not overcharge his great quality product. It 's quaint, small so don 't expect fancy. What you can expect is a great meal by the hands of an expert.
Opened in 1992. Oldest sushi restaurant in Coral Springs and one of the oldest still operating in South Florida. I 've been wanting to try it for a while. I wish I made that decision a long time ago. Japanese chef and owner, Yuji-San, who hails from the north of the country. Interior very traditional Japanese decor. The place was dead on Saturday night during prime dinner hours. Clearly, the place is suffering. I sat at the bar. Was served complimentary sunomono noodles, very good. I asked if he had toro, fatty tuna. Nope, Americans don 't want to pay for it. But he had Hamachi toro which is the belly cut from the yellowtail, which was very good. Realizing I was serious he brought out a fresh Japanese mackerel and made two beautiful pieces of nigiri out of it. Also had a blue crab sunomono roll and Takoyaki. Both quite good. This place clearly needs business and I can see that Yuji-San feels a bit down on his luck. There 's a lot of stuff on the specials I would like to try which includes cooked items a lot of places around here do not have. If you haven 't been, then go.
I miss you!!! Please come back, Yuji sama and Shinichi sama!!!!!! There's no sushi like your sushi in all of South Florida!!!!!
I walked in and the carpet was disgustingly sticky. I would have walked out but my friends were already there. Surprisingly the food was good. I enjoyed my sushi. The restaurant is tiny. Tables are only for either 4 or 2 people. Not good for groups.
