Cedar Chest Restaurant And Bar

I always enjoy the Cedar Chest in Crosslake as they have such a home town feel as well as great food great staff. Their burgers are phenomenal, the best around, as are there soups, made from scratch. They offer a lot of great tasting Gluten free options, which is important to me as my daughter is a celiac as the owner's sister is also, they take it seriously, so you can trust it. Great place!

As other reviewers have noted, the presence of drunken locals really detracts from the experience at this restaurant. Our group faced complete disrespect and rude behavior from a local who, for no reason, seemed intent on starting a fight with us—shoving the women in our group and challenging the men. Unfortunately, the owner did nothing to intervene and instead sided with the intoxicated patron, prompting us to leave. I would recommend avoiding this place, as there are many other exceptional and welcoming options nearby.

We walked in and waited until the hostess at the bar invited us to take a seat. After sitting down, we waited for 10 minutes without receiving a menu or being approached to place our order. The staff was too preoccupied with their phones and vaping to assist us.

I was really disappointed with my experience. This was my second visit to the restaurant. During my first visit, I sat on the patio where there were a lot of people smoking, which was unpleasant. The chicken I had then was just average. Yesterday, we decided to try takeout and placed our order at 4:00 PM for a chicken and rib dinner. Unfortunately, both the chicken and ribs were overcooked. The ribs still had the silver skin on the back, which was not great. Additionally, we didn't receive the coleslaw side that we paid for. It would also be helpful if you communicated any surcharges for credit card payments and takeout orders. On a positive note, the bartender was friendly, but we did feel uncomfortable as two older men at the bar kept glaring at us. Overall, it wasn’t a good experience.

Excellent burgers, the homemade fries were about as good as you're going to get. Friendly servers. I would definitely stop there again!
