The Old Mill - Dacorum

The food and service at this restaurant are fantastic. The Caesar salad I had was one of the best I've ever tasted. (See picture)

I ordered a pork dish, but unfortunately the pork was excessively fatty both inside and out, which made it feel like I was swallowing warm jelly. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, I was told that this was the intended presentation of the dish. As someone who has worked as a chef for two years, I know that this is not the standard for pork dishes. The excessive fat content not only made me feel sick, but also ruined my appetite. The chef was quite rude and defensive when I brought up my concerns. However, the rest of the staff were lovely and seemed genuinely apologetic about my experience. To be completely honest, it was a disappointing dining experience.

We had a great meal at Margo's. The dishes were authentic, delicious, and served in generous portions. We highly recommend trying the pork shank.

Such a nice place. Full of character. Roast dinners are massive. Pizza is great. Dog friendly. Different to the local norm. Meats cured and prepped on-site. A delightful cat, called Tito, is always in attendance. Worth a visit!

Visited for a quiet drink one Friday evening; it was very empty. Possibly timing as after Xmas...? I prefer quieter/less busy places but yeah. Shame as it's a nice pub and location.
