The Handlebar - Dallas Center

This restaurant is simply outstanding! I live over 30 minutes away, yet I’m willing to go out of my way to return. Kolby at the bar was fantastic, and I will definitely be coming back.

Let me preface this post by saying we like to support local. My husband and I love craft beer and we're thrilled to have a local place with 32 taps. The original management at the Handlebar killed it. We would go every Friday after work and during COVID ordered from there often. With such a fondness for the place we were really hopeful that this new management could be the turning point. Went for dinner on Friday 8/25, it was busy still several open tables. It took 20 minutes to get our first beer after ordering. We ordered food before we got our beers. It took over an hour to get french dips that were dry and sparse on the meat with about a 1/4 of the fries we would normal get. Our waitress never stopped to talk or ask if we needed anything, just hollered as she walked by an apology or do you need anything. Our beer order was wrong.I am a forgiving person and I understand the growing pains, however this is strike two. I hope the 3rd attempt is better because I love this place.BTW the first attempt we set at the bar and it took almost as long. Also the glass wear doesn't match the beer styles. I could go almost anywhere and get the correct glass wear or at least the correct amount per style, why pay $9 for a tiny tulip when I can go and get a pint for the same price or less?

Handlebar is back! Food was great, beer was cold, and the people were sweet.

The service was lackluster at best. I noticed our waitress was new, so I tried to be patient, but we waited nearly 45 minutes from the time we ordered until our food arrived. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing—the burgers were flat, dry, and lacked any flavor. Honestly, even a burger from McDonald's would have been an improvement. The fries were just okay, nothing memorable, and the portion size was small. To top it all off, the price was outrageous. It was just me and my two kids; we all ordered a burger with fries and had a soda each, and the total came to $67! I felt nauseous at the thought. I would have preferred a meal from a gas station over what we received. I am extremely disappointed and will never return.

The food was exceptional, and Kolby provided excellent service. He was entertaining and engaging, making for a wonderful conversation.
