The best selection of wines and the food was sensational, an evening you will remember.
The menu is on a chalk board, in Italian. The waiters speak Italian, German and English in that order...It feels like a provincial Italian restaurant....especially as our visit coincided with a heatwave and at 8pm it was still close to 30c. 4 of us went there for dinner, cooked by Steve who is there quite often. He was greeted as an old friend and we were looked after well. I had salmon sashimi, Italian style: thin slices of very fresh salmon served with the usual Japanese condiments. This was followed by simply grilled tiger prawns served with garlic and olive oil and a side salad. Perfectly cooked, gloriously tasty. We drank a wine recommended by the waiter: full, mellow and undeniably Italian, but also at €55 a bottle not cheap. We had 2. No dessert, just coffee. €276 in total. Recommended.
As any of you that have read my reviews before will know, I travel to Darmstadt a lot with work and I am always on the lookout for new places to eat. This wonderful restaurant is 5 minutes walk from the Ramada Hotel and was recommended by a work colleague and I can't speak too highly of it. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable and the food is phenomenal and seasonal. I actually like it when certain selections run out as it shows that they are popular and made in small batches. Starter, main and dessert were fabulous and the recommended wine complemented them perfectly. Definitely returning!
Visited the restaurant for a wedding anniversary. Nice setting, great food and wine. There is no menu, just a list of dishes on a blackboard.Everything is cooked to order, so food does not come too fast, and there is never a rush. We had seared scalops and broiled goat's cheese on an apple in a wild herb salad as a starter, split a bowl of pasta with a minced duck breast sauce and had beef filet and a rack of lamb for the main course. They serve home-made Italian bread with tapenade to start off, and between courses serve a micr-sized bowl of soup, this time cream of asparagus. They have a wide selection of red and white wines, but we chose a rose that went well with all the courses. There was no room left for desert so we ended our evening with a delicious espresso. But their prosecco sorbet is out of this worldI would suggest making reservations.
