Sloan's Calzones - Decatur

Our son was invited to play with the Decatur Municipal Band last summer(2021, not 10 years ago). First week, we screwed up and only brought drinks. Every other night we had Sloan’s Calzones (and pizza too). NOTE: Canzone is a very difficult and special version of pizza. 1. Not what you are used to, but if done right with a crust as thin as a tortilla… 2. only fresh veggies , cheeses and local meats, 3.and a sauce to die for…You will experience and understand just a tiny chunk of the good life you are searching for. Sloans is one of the greatest!!

Great slice and a drink. I added the salad which had the craziest chunk of tomato on top (dice that tomato up already). Pizza slice was good sized and had a great crust.

Work in downtown and came to lunch, got it fast enough to eat there and back to work. The staff was friendly and got my amazing breadsticks within minutes and this amazing and tasty calzone within minutes afterwards. The bread sticks were amazing and seasoned with the whole parm I ever wanted. Cheese sauce was good with the calzone and breadsticks. The calzone was hot, fresh and very tasty. Will definitely go back when the situation appears!

WHAT A PIZZA! I went to Sloans with my husband after we got married at the courthouse. We love good pizza and this one was perfect for that day. The best pizza in town, the place is pretty good, clean and quiet, also the staff is very friendly. You need to stop here if you want a good pizza ?. SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS ??

Thirty years ago, when we first married, Sunday nights were pizza night with our parents. We could not afford to buy take-out, so Sunday night pizza night was one way for our parents to support us. We had a locally owned pizza place that was THE place for Sunday Night Pizza Night. We have seriously considered driving four hours one way to enjoy it again. We have newly instituted Saturday night Pizza night with our kids this Spring. We are looking for THE place to make Saturday night pizza night a new tradition in our family. These are our experiences based on our likes and dislikes. Pizza is one of those things that everyone has a different favorite. Here is our opinion of?Sloan?s Calzones. The crust is similar to a cracker. We did not dislike the crust, but we also didn?t love it. The sauce was savory which is what we are looking for. It did seem dry, and we would have liked more sauce. We also would have liked more cheese. We ordered the Hawaiian and the Works. I would expect the works to be loaded with toppings and it wasn?t. However, the sausage was a good quality and flavorful. The Hawaiian seemed to lack flavor. This is not what we were looking for and we did not enjoy it enough to order again. That doesn?t mean you should not give it a try. Sloan?s Calzones is a crispy crust, savory sauce pizza.
