The Winery Package Liqr - Decatur

This bar in Decatur, IL holds a special place in my heart as my first bar experience. As a former MU alum, you could often determine a lot about a student by which bar they frequented - LSB or the Winery. For me, it was usually the Winery. This dive bar may not be fancy, but it offers a good mix of patrons looking for a drink, including MU students. Getting a drink here is usually easy, although the service can be slow at times due to a limited staff. Mark and Beth, the waitstaff, are always friendly and welcoming. I've always felt safe here, as they are adept at defusing potential conflicts. The jukebox plays classic rock, although I was disappointed to see Tom Waits removed. The menu is simple with just chips and Winery Burgers available. They don't accept debit cards, but this helps keep prices low ($2.50 for wells, $6 for pitchers). This place is a college student's paradise for affordable drinks. They are strict about carding, so don't try to sneak in. The open mic nights hosted by Millikin students add to the charm of this bar. Overall, it's one of the best bars I've been to and always a favorite spot to visit in Decatur. This Decatur dive bar is awesome. They serve delicious cheeseburgers that taste like a slice of the Midwest. The cold beer and friendly crowd make for a great atmosphere.
