Lighthouse - Destin

I have seen this place advertised every time I've visited this area. Even though it was a good 30 min drive from where we were staying, the 1/2 deal until 8pm was still enticing. We arrived and the place was not busy at all. Probably a few tables were filled. Granted it was a Tuesday night and it was off season but I was hoping for a little more business so I wouldn't be afraid to try the food. Most entrées were 1/2 off and they had a large selection to choose from. From Seafood to steaks. All entrées were full sized and included a salad and a side. I ordered a Seafood platter than came with scallops, fried fish, fried shrimp and a crab cake. My wife ordered the popcorn shrimp. My platter came with 1 fried fish, 1 crab cake, 4 small scallops and 5-6 medium fried shrimp. The normal cost of the platter was $27. Considering the portion I received, I would have been really mad if I had paid full price for what I got. The 1/2 price is probably a little closer to what I would expect to pay, probably a few dollars cheaper. I can see the plate costing $18-$20 full price but not $27. The shrimp and scallops were tasty and not over fried. The fish was decent but I forgot to ask what type of fish they used and it almost tasted like catfish. The crab cake tasted like it wasn't homemade. Tasted a lot of seasoning and filler and couldn't tell where the crab meat was. Next time I think I will stick with a single species dish. My wife and my kids all enjoyed the popcorn shrimp and my little girl wanted to come back everyday. The baked potato was cooked perfectly and the side salad was average. The service was fantastic. The waiter was not loud and was very calm and accommodating. I would definitely come back and try other entrées at 1/2 off.
