The Lower Ledge Gastropub - Doaktown

We ate on Friday (Oct 21) in the Lower Ledge as part of a large group of about 25 30 people. First the positive, the service was fantastic, our service was fast and the server was very nice. The atmosphere was great, perfect location by the river and the building was new and had a great warm and cozy feeling. Now to that not so good part, my wife and I shared a sequence of chicken wings and a sequence of chicken strips. Both the wings and the chicken strip meal were the first meals that were brought to our table within 5 or 6 minutes. They were obviously sitting under a heat lamp and not freshly cooked. They were very thick and very dry like the wings and chicken strips. I returned the wings and a second batch was released. The second approach was slightly better, but again the dough was very thick and heavy and very dark. We ordered honey garlic that the wings were spun in the dough after cooking. We ate only about half of the wings (only the server has not commented on half of them going uneaten). Other couples on our table ordered the fish and chips they said was fantastic, it had a light dough and came a beautiful golden color. So overall for me it was a very disappointing meal and based on what we ordered would not order it again. When we come every year, we give them another shot, but order something else.

This is a very nice place for meal. Lots of 4 wheelers and side by sides coming through. Menu is not huge but everything looked great, all 5 at our table had something different and all raved at how good it was. Picaroons beer is on sale here(yum) This was our first trip but will be back. Great service. Great view of the river, outdoor seating,firepits, would recommend reservations gets busy being only open Thursday to Sunday.
