Roost - Dover

Many missed traces here. I will focus on my wife and I both being veterans of the restaurant industry for 30 years. I Service was spott. After our order we did not see them again until they asked us if we were interested in Dessert. All our foods were delivered by another server, it was not the food runner). Our ducks arrived while our dirty app plates were still on the table. It seemed to be a lack of effort and/or passion in service. IE: All candles were unlit, Eminem was the music choice, the TVs?)we are all gone. As far as food is concerned, our cauliflower seemed before roasting, but not today, as if it had been blown. It tasted Oldish. I can't talk to the execution of the dishes, as we asked about the sauce on the page that I understand, changes the last taste, but old is old; our Caesar salad was very salty and fish. The anchovies were very dominant, leading to a strong imbalance; for our ducks we chose the burger. This is not what I usually choose, but I have some extra miles of running this week and thought I would treat myself. I ordered my burger MR, my wife ordered her medium. Both came best from MW. As a griller myself I know the routine, and we waited to order the burgers so that they would come out immediately and the chef would not have to hold them for any time while we ate our apps. The strategy didn't work. The burger came with wedges and pickles. I tried a bread and a butterhouse, the pickle made and it was well cleaned. That's the part I can't get past. The taste of the pickle that dwells with me. I mentioned the pickle to our server when she had released our records, the plates were sitting, and we were clear with them. She sat at the bar and then watched a video with the bartender, then went to the other dining area, then came back and cleared our plates. Altogether, quite disappointing.

Great service and a nice dinner. Would recommend a non-dairy dessert option.

Only our second time here, and it wasn't disappointed. The drinks and appetizers came fast and were delicious! The food didn't last long, and the server checked us before and after eating. Great service, food, drinks and atmosphere! Will definitely come back!

I drove with my date from Portsmouth, just to find out that they decided to close because of the weather, but did not decide to let their reservations know.

Love the changes to the menu. I haven't ever had a meeting I didn't like.
