Smithfield has become quite a pleasant part of Dublin and Oscars is well situated to take advantage of that. We had been here before for dri ks but this was the first time we ate here. And the last. They have a good looking lunch menu and we both liked the sound of the steak sandwich. Slight error with our order but we could live with that. Unfortunately the steak sandwich was awful. Dry to the point of shoe leather and bland. It is not difficult to cook minute steak but it is very easy to overcook it and we ended up with a slab of unsliced leather between a bland ciabatta served with barely noticeable red onion marmalade and what was described on the menu as a cheese sauce but in reality was a glob of melted cheese. Came with a side of cous cous for some reason and dry fries. The beer also smelled off. Not very impressed.
Lovely cafe in Smithfield, friendly staff, reasonable prices, great chicken wings and fab cheesecake brownie.
A fresh menu, options for plant based , made it was easy to find food we wanted to eat. Efficient service, friendly staff contributed to a fab meal. Mussels were gorgeous and catch of the day was well portioned, priced and seasoned well. A great place to go in SmithField.
I visited with some colleagues while in Dublin on business on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was not our first choice but on arrival was reassuringly busy. The food was fine, reasonably tasty and the menu offered a good range of options. My beef stew was filling but nothing to rave about. Service was a tad slow, and we were disappointed that the restaurant does not allow splitting of bills.
