The View - Düsseldorf

Great place and view of the city. However this dinner with few friends turned out to be a disaster for me.I immediately tasted ammonia in my kabeljaufilet cod, and after 3 bites I asked the other people at the table to smell the fish. All of them confirmed that it was obviously ammonia. I pointed it out at the waiter and asked the dish to be brought back to the kitchen. Both the waiter and the manager who kindly came to discuss, explain and confirm the superb quality of their products, said that nothing was wrong with the fish. The attitude if the staff had been very kind and nice at all times.I said that things like this can happen and it was not a problem after all, but at that point I was not in the mood to have a 2nd try to the fish, so I asked only for a dessert, which was a creme brûlée, well presented and finally good.I was extremely surprised to find the 27 euros charged on the bill. I paid my 120 euros share (for 2) and left without discussing, and for sure not returning back. All the others were satisfied of the food. Another person had the cod, but his was very good and he as well confirmed that mine smelled awfully ammonia.First time in my life returning the dish to the kitchen, and very disappointed to receive such a kind of response. In this restaurant the client is not always write notwithstanding the obvious.

This is a very nice lounge/restaurant, which we had the chance to visit with a large business group of people. Service is above average, atmosphere is impressive, food quality (we had steak Rioja) is good with acceptable price/performance.

It does have a great view of the promenade especially as it gets dark Staff were nice and friendly Drinks are overpriced but that’s not surprising.. It’s about a minute walk from the end of the promenade but the view is definately worth it....Just take plenty of money !

Excellent place with a great view and friendly staff, particularly Anton in the bar. Most definitely will come back.

The View offers indeed a nice view across the city, but the light concept interior design plus the rather loud house music blaring from the speakers were not really mine.
