La Giostra - Duino-aurisina

Serata informale,ottimi piatti, personale gentilissimo. Menu con piatti di carne,uova, e panini vari.

This is NOT a gourmet restaurant: it 's a nice, small place, interior like a mountain hut, with a limited choice of dishes (all very good indeed) but with an almost unlimited choice of beers. The owner is an expert on beers, and a extremely friendly one. The photos that portrait him are fantastic. Excellent vegetarian dishes, tartar, panini at reasonable price. Not so immediate to find. Very recommended.

My wife took me and our friends to her well-known local paninoteca La Giostra this past September, because she wanted to have one of their great panini. I 've already had the chance to taste their beers last year, and was already getting also our friends ready for the surprise and... WOW! What a surprise this year!!! Davo, the Owner, was more than helpful with all of the above! He brought us a bunch of different beers to try out, while describing each and every one of them. Thankfully we had my wife as the Designated Driver! Also because 3 (almost drunk Americans wouldn 't be able to find their way back to our places anyway. ;o Mia moglie aveva voglia di mangiare un BUON panino e c 'ha portati alla Giostra, con la scusa che noi avremmo gradito la birra. Noi ci siamo gia ' stati l 'anno scorso, e gia ' mi pregustavo la bionda bibita, preparando i nostri due amici per la sorpresa. E... WOW!!! Davo, il proprietario, e ' stato molto piu ' che utile e servizievole con quanto sopra. Ci ha portato tante diverse birre da degustare accompagnate dalla sua conoscenza e dettagliata descrizione d 'ognuna di esse. Fortunatamente io ed i nostri amici avevamo mia moglie come Autista Sobrio ! Anche perche ' sarebbe stata dura per 3 (un po ' brilli Americani trovare la strada di ritorno. ;o

Spotted this restaurant here on TripAdvisor. Not easy to find and you really need to make an effort to get here. Incredible beer assortment on tap. We planned to take just one beer, but stayed there over lunch and couple of more beers. All due to the owner and the excellent service. Lot's of local people having lunch there.

We had a super delicious meal at La Giostra my husband loved his Giostra panini on fresh chewy ciabatta, enjoyed with a few different Belgian beers on tap. The grilled vegetable and grilled cheese plate were perfect for me, the vegetarian. The selection of grilled vegetables was awesome eggplant, zucchini, peppers, onion, mushrooms and the most delicious grilled shredded fennel. I 've never thought of grilling fennel this way but wow! It is easy to tell that La Giostra is appreciated by locals, but they were very accommodating with our less than limited Italian, even producing a menu in English. If you arrive at night you will be traveling down a dark road and thinking where the heck is this place, there can 't be an amazing hidden restaurant around this dark bend ...but oh just wait...you are in for a treat.
