Firebirds Wood Fired Grill - Durham

We celebrated my daughter's birthday dinner at this restaurant, and it was a lovely experience. The atmosphere is enchanting and inviting, with some areas brightly lit and others dimly lit, which created a special ambiance for our occasion. Our waitress was amazing! Don't forget to try the bread—it’s a must! For our appetizer, we had the Philly cheese egg rolls, which everyone at the table except me really enjoyed. For our main courses, we had a variety of dishes, including a chicken sandwich with fries, salmon with tater tots, steak with mushrooms, and a hamburger with cider slaw, all of which were flavorful.

However, our revisit on August 15, 2022, was quite disappointing. Our server was not the best; the experience started off poorly with a dirty celery and only got worse from there. It felt like our presence was a burden to her. If this had been our first experience, we definitely would not have returned. The level of service we encountered was far below what we had come to expect. Fortunately, the manager, Brian, did his best to address the situation, which we appreciated. The tip we left reflected the quality of service we received. While I don't believe in leaving nothing, it would have been nice to have a positive experience for everyone involved. Clearly, not everyone is suited for every job, and this one didn’t seem to be a fit for her. Despite this setback, I still believe this is a great establishment.

My family discovered this restaurant during the lockdown, and initially, it was a great addition to our usual takeout options. However, over the past couple of months, we've encountered numerous issues with the quality of the food. One major problem has been the chefs consistently ignoring our requests to not add spices to our dishes. Today was our final visit to this restaurant. We waited around 15 to 20 minutes for our curbside order, even though our food was already ready. I eventually had to go inside to pick it up myself. Once we got home, we found that the steaks, which were supposed to be cooked medium (as shown in the photos), were instead tough and burnt all the way through, with no hint of a hot pink center. Moreover, the macaroni and cheese tasted diluted. Given the price we paid, especially in the current economy (thankfully, we received a refund), this restaurant should be offering much better food to its customers.

First thing, Firebirds has the best bread. Served warm and soft, with a little crunch. Delicious. The Double Black Diamond cocktail tasted more like a mocktail so that was disappointing. But the food and the service was excellent. And the philly cheese steak eggs rolls should definitely be tried at least once.

Had a bite to eat here this evening and I think it could have been better. I believe a lot of the issues I had was just due to them being really busy. Got the chicken pasta specialty dish and it was very tasty though! I'd come back, but I think I'll need to avoid busy times at places like this. I'm always leaving feeling not quite satisfied with my experience. Lol
