The New Inn - Durham

This is the only dining option near Durham University unless you're willing to walk 20 minutes to downtown Durham. The prices are reasonable, but the food is unremarkable. The floor was sticky, and water is self-serve. Keep in mind that the kitchen closes at 8 PM and the restaurant shuts down at 11 PM on weekdays.

This is a decent pub for food; while the quality ranges from acceptable to good, the prices are extremely affordable. It's particularly popular with students, offering meal deals like two meals for £5.50 on select dishes, as well as discounts on beer and burgers. The New Inn specializes in burgers, but I personally think the desserts are the highlight of the menu. Drinks are fairly priced, and you can even get discounts on specific beverages by purchasing the pub's 'yellow card.' The interior has a funky decor with cozy sofas, and there are TV screens playing live sports or music videos. Be prepared to sometimes struggle to find a table, especially on Saturdays when it gets quite crowded. A couple of things to keep in mind: food is served from 12 noon to 7 PM, and service can be a bit slow at times.

The outdoor area is pleasant, creating a lovely ambiance that has a student vibe.
