Alpino Fish Chip Shop

Very very very overpriced, over £7 for a portion of mediocre chips and 2 portions mushy peas!!!..............

This restaurant was absolutely awful. The food tasted old and unappetizing. I took a few bites and then threw it away. It was definitely a waste of money, especially considering the delivery cost £9.50.

I don't know if the standards have dropped, but I always visited this chip shop as I come from Barrhead and live in Paisley now. I won't be back. My brother picked up two fish suppers yesterday for our tea and it was ridiculous. Little crisp dregs for chips and the fish had dried up batter on it with hardly any fish. It looked as if it had been lying for hours and certainly wasn't what we are used to from Alpino. We were very disappointed, but because we were in Paisley and going out it wasn't feasible to go back and complain, but we certainly will be going elsewhere in future. If this is the standard of a fish supper then we won't be back. A fish supper is a treat nowadays and not cheap so you should therefore get what you pay for and this was a big let down!

After leaving Barrhead 40 years ago, I was delighted to see that Alpino's was still standing during a recent visit. It had been one of my favorite chip shops, and I was happy to find that the quality of food had not declined. I ordered fish and chips along with a cup of coffee. The batter on the two fillets of fish was perfectly crisp, and the chips were not soggy at all. The portion size was generous, and all the necessary condiments were provided on the table. The coffee was decent, though not exceptional, and my only minor complaint was the lack of sweetener, with only sugar available. The waitress who served me was very pleasant, and my bill came to less than £10. Despite not visiting Barrhead frequently, I would definitely return to Alpino's for another meal.

This is the ONLY Fish and Chip shop I will visit. The quality is great and the hygiene is better than most places. Service is always with a smile.
