Smith Gertrude - Edinburgh, City of

The restaurant has a cozy fairy tale-like atmosphere inside, which was a welcome escape from the ever-changing weather outside in Edinburgh. I enjoyed a glass of delicious bright pinot noir with a nice structure, paired with a bowl of irresistible truffle oil. The staff was friendly and the bar had a warm ambiance, making it the perfect place to seek shelter from the spring showers.

As a lover of cheese and wine, I recently visited Smith Gertrude and was blown away. This charming restaurant in Stockbridge has it all: a fantastic atmosphere, beautiful decor, delicious wine, and incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff. If you're in the mood for a delectable cheeseboard paired with wine, this is the place to be. And for those with a sweet tooth, the chocolate and caramel brownie is a must-try. Simply delicious.

I visited Edinburgh for the first time and was looking for a unique dining experience away from the city center. This restaurant was a fantastic find in a beautiful location on the outskirts of the city. It had everything we enjoy - a varied menu, delicious cheese options, a laid-back atmosphere, and attentive service. We enjoyed listening to vinyl music as we tried new and exciting dishes. I highly recommend it! The wine selection was impressive and the staff were very knowledgeable. The service was top-notch and we will definitely be returning for a drink or to purchase a bottle to enjoy at home when we visit again.

Had heard that there was a cheese and wein place in stockbridge and was eager to try it when it opened. more tense and spacious place with incredibly friendly and helpful staff. we went for the wee and cheese flights that looked a little bit small, was a good opportunity to see how eating and wee can fit. and paired with a charcuterie board with lots of delicious fat, melt-in-the-mouth meat, broth and butter so well I had to ask what kind it was (salted beilleuaire, fyi dinner made a pretty good evening. there was not much of brot or butter (nor of the beautiful chutney that came also, but we asked for more brot and they were happy to offer. somehow we forgot to order one of the chocolates on the menu, or any twelve trinket donuts, but I'm sure I'll try again, just for, you know, research. Actually, ok reflexion I'm not sure if three small glasses wee and small pieces cheese for £17 is especially good. but there was nothing I didn't enjoy and the staff was great.

I can’t rate this wonderful place highly enough. I came in here as a solo traveller travelling for work and got a seat at the bar. I decided to do the Big red wine flight with matching cheeses, and then at the end got an amazing Scottish cheese to finish. The wine and cheese were absolutely wonderful and the younger guy behind the bar making the charcuterie boards was so lovely and friendly. Highly recommend if you are visiting Edinburgh- I will be coming back!
