I was plesently surprised with how good the food was and the friendly staff would recommend a visit.

Stopped in on a rainy day after a visit to the castle. We had the steak and Guinness pie and the monkfish. The monkfish was good, the steak and Guinness so-so. It consisted of a ladle of steak soup, a glop of mashed potatoes, some greens, and a chunk of puff pastry that had been puffed in the oven and placed on top. About the only complaint about the monkfish is that there was so much of it. Portion sizes are large. The interior of the place is as the name indicates, largely tile not wood. Looking a the menu you get the feeling that this place is somewhat more geared toward tourists than locals. Everyone we talked to was visiting.

Chicken Cesar salad was very poor quality and expensive. Its not a difficult thing to get right, but stale croutons and a dusting of parmesan at 17 pounds made it feel like a rip off.

Beautiful decor and very comfortable place to have a drink. Great selection of Scotch’s. Good staff that was very attentive. Nice selection of specialty drinks.

GREAT PUB. Beautiful building, friendly staff, great beer and plenty of seating, what’s not to like?!?
