The rooms were lovely and clean, and the shower was great and super warm. The toilet and sink were also wonder, and we had plenty of towels. The beds were amazingly comfortable and the pillows were very fluffy. The overall breakfast was delicious not to oily or burnt in anyway, and the staff were just so kind. One gentleman who was clearly into cars had a long conversation with me, and that made us feel happy as we were talking to real humans. I wish the pool was open for much longer, as even if your going with children, a competent parent is going to watch their children and not allow anything to happen. Just something for the Village Hotel to consider as the kids were keen to use the pool/spa, but due to the busy itinerary that we had in Edinburgh, there was not time.
Not the best burger, but a good one. beautiful location and various beers
We stayed for 3 nights on an all-inclusive deal. The food was decent, but after eating there twice, we had pretty much tried everything they had to offer. The menu mainly consisted of wraps, burgers, and chips. We felt that the food was overpriced for what it was. If we weren't on a deal, we would have ordered food from nearby restaurants instead. The bar prices were also high, but there is a Morrisons and bargain booze store nearby for cheaper options.
We dined here because we were staying at the hotel, but if our stay had been longer than one night, we would have chosen a different restaurant. The portion sizes were small and the prices were high. There are certainly better dining options available in Edinburgh.
After finding that other restaurants were either closed or full, we ended up at Verve Grill (located in the Village Hotel). The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived and remained that way throughout our meal. Although the menu had a slightly quirky American influence and the prices were a bit high, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food.
