I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a reasonable priced meal that will exceed your expectations. Visiting from Kansas City where I pride myself in finding little hidden gems of great food. Stopped in Stacy's for a pre golf meal and a couple drinks. Sat at the bar because, well, that's always where you'll have the best conversation. The bar staff was extremely pleasant and shared a lot of info about how the amazing food comes to be. First, it's all legit fresh made from scratch goodness. The kitchen staff is all family or friends of and all share their little secrets to successful with the various menu options. The honey BBQ chicken bites, soaked in buttermilk before perfectly fried and tossed in life changing sauce, are a must have. The chips and salsa....salsa's made by some little old local lady and so fantastic. I opted for the chicken pot pie as main course because I love me a good down home pot pie and knowing the made from scratch philosophy at Stacy's, had to try it. I would put this easily in my top 2 or 3 I've tried. Like something my grandma might have put on the table, it made my day. Another hidden gem unhidden and I can't thank the folks at Stacy's enough for the great experience and full belly! Today had to be an off day or something because I really don't know how this place has such good ratings otherwise. Waitstaff was pleasant and attentive, but the food needs work. My mother and I stopped in for lunch, we shared an order of fried green tomatoes, which were pretty good. However, we each got a cup of baked potato soup and it was incredibly bland. My mother's cup had whole giant chunks of potato in it, and it was lukewarm at best. My cup was warmer, but still lacked almost any flavor. With the soup came some cornbread which felt like it had been sitting in a refrigerator and was more consistent with cake than what I'd consider cornbread to normally be. Our entrees were incredibly bland as well. I had parmesan crusted cod that was overcooked and rubbery. The parmesan apparently was just the pre-grated kind in a shaker bottle you buy at the store. Collard greens had hardly any flavor to them. My mother's catfish was also rubbery and lacked flavor, and the mac cheese she got with it was undercooked. I'm not sure if they use any seasonings or spices in the kitchen here. Overall not impressed and unlikely to return.
