This restaurant offers more than just schnitzel, despite its 'schnitzelhouse' label. The menu includes a variety of options, and the casual decor with a large mural adds character to the space. We tried the reuben sandwich, which came with corned beef despite being listed as Montréal smoked beef. It was delicious, and the fries and coleslaw on the side were excellent. The highlight of the meal was the house-made pies, specifically the pecan and chocolate peanut-butter options, both of which were superb.
The Jaeger schnitzel is very good. We visited The Granary with a group of 8 to celebrate 3 anniversaries. The restaurant has always been good, but this visit was exceptional. While they offer other items on the menu, they have a separate page dedicated to the 9 or so schnitzels. It is similar to a creperie, where the schnitzel serves as the base for various sides and sauces. I ordered the Jaeger Schnitzel (hunter) and it was excellent. My wife had one with spinach and goat cheese, which was also fantastic. The rest of our party tried the other schnitzels, including the famous Wiener schnitzel. After enjoying our meal, we were surprised with a large cake, which we ended up taking home to enjoy later.
There were 18 of us on a bike tour in the area. The food and the service were great. I will be going back when in the area again
Spotted this restaurant on the way to Pembroke. Sign read Schnitzel Haus, although it's called The Granary. Who cares, the schnitzel was excellent, freshly prepared, fresh veggies. We both ordered appetizers, baked brie and 2nd was mushroom something, sorry, don't remember the exact name. Both app's were huge and excellent. We took them home. 2 app's and 2 schnitzel dinners with 2 drinks, $ 50.00.Service was efficient and very friendly. Good for families, singles, young and old.
